anatomy handiworks

Floating hand bags, life-sized chalk board calendars, buttons mixed with cement... we've been feeling crafty here lately....

Auxiliary Magazine, Hide and Seek Photo Shoot

Auxiliary Magazine is a Buffalo based alternative magazine that does a great job of exposing a darker, more raw quality of beauty and fashion. For their Aug/Sept issue stylist Molly Hoeltke used a bunch of anatomy made-to-measure garments for a photo shoot called Hide and Seek, shot by Mike Donner.
I nearly fell off my chair when I saw these! I hope to share the same experience...

Vintage Flair

When one project ends, another is just beginning! We have a new client who has a couple of ideas that we're going to be developing with her, but first is a very 50's styled special occasion dress for her various events and gala's she attends. She brought me a catalog from an old high end department store for inspiration, and this is what we ended up with!

What a weekend!

I can totally breathe a sigh of relief after this weekend! Three big made-to-measure garments all related to weddings: mother of the groom dress, a wedding reception dress for a bride, and a wedding gown!!!
It's truly pretty freaking awesome to be able to be a part in each of these special days for these three ladies. It fills me with so much joy knowing that they feel as beautiful as they can on such an important occasion!
The Stella Wedding Reception Dress

Pearl buttons made by anatomy

For a mother of the groom dress for Maureen, we made the Jane Dress from the made-to-measure collection swapping out the jersey cowl top for a rich looking gold silk charmeuse. The garment absolutely needed beautiful buttons, but I was totally unsatisfied with the selection of pearl schenck buttons out there!! So..... I made them....

Less than desirable bridesmaids dress...?

Make it a soft and fabulous pillow :)

Beads and lace: part three

For the modest train on the beaded wedding gown, I trimmed the delicate scalloped border of the fabric off and then laid them out piece by piece to the hem of the gown.
